Gaelic Sunday Commemorations   05/08/2018

This Bank holiday weekend marks the beginning of remembrance of the Centenary of Gaelic Sunday across the weekend of August 4/5.


Gaelic Sunday was a movement of clubs and club people showing their pride in their games and in the area they represented.


This weekend na Stiofanaigh is proud to be hosting two great events coinciding with #GaelicSunday commemorations.


Saturday 4th Aug
Ballina Stephenites GAA Club welcomes Roscommon Gaels to James Stephens Park on Saturday @7pm as both teams prepare for Club Championship games.


Sunday 5th Aug
Ballina Cycling Club in conjunction with Ballina Stephenites GAA Club and James Stephens Hurling Club hosts the inaugrial Salmon Sportive Cycle with 3 different length of routes around North Mayo.


All Money raised it going to the local “Garda Anthony Golden Community Park” in Ballina a park built to serve the community of Ballina and in memory of Ballina’s native Garda Anthony Golden who was shot dead near Omeath, Co. Louth on the 11th of October 2015, while on a domestic violence callout in uniform and unarmed.
Garda Golden was a passionate hurler and played with James Stephens Hurling Club.


The Community of North Mayo will continue to honour the memory of Garda Golden.
